when we ask god for something and expect to receive something back we have to ask ourselves why do we want this? do we have a good reason for wanting it. for example for girls when someone else has something you want like a pair of expensive shoes, a new purse, or shirt etc we shouldn't ask god to give us them because we think it will make us more popular or cooler or we'll look better. It shouldn't be about our outer appearance but whats on the inside. what are our hearts desires? they should be things that give us pleasure because they make us stronger and bring us or family and friends or even enemies closer to god they shouldn't be the material things that only bring us pleasure because it makes the outer appearance look really good. we should ask for what makes our hearts whole like god's love,, patience, wisdom, and courage. Things virtues make us full not a pair of 1000 dollar shoes.

James 4:1-3
