Ruth 1:16-18

Despite the fact that Naomi initially had nothing of material value to share with Ruth and was by her own admission "Bitter", Ruth was determined to be faithful and loving to Naomi. Ruth worked hard to provide for herself and Naomi. And she did so without promise of things getting any easier. She avoided becoming bitter herself, but focused on obedience, love, and working to improve their lives.
Her diligent and faithful attitude was rewarded in the later chapters of this book.
How often am I boldly determined like Ruth? Do I remain faithful to Jesus when times are tough and no sign of improvement can be easily seen? Do I persevere despite the fact that my reward seems distant and intangible?
