The ESV text says 'the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change'. According to Wikipedia 'A shadow is a region of darkness where light is blocked by an object. It occupies all of the space behind an opaque object with light in front of it. The cross section of a shadow is a two-dimensional silhouette, or reverse projection of the object blocking the light.' There are no shadows around our Father because there is no darkness, no sin, nothing blocking the light. God empower me to be the kind of parent who radiates good gifts...not a shifting shadowy representation of you.
