When "hobbies" go bad
I would be lying if I told you that I was never like this person that Isaiah is describing, this "lover of emptiness." Constantly I find myself worshiping something that is fun and interesting but in the end utterly empty. This is really the Devil's strategy in a nutshell. He gets us so deep into our "hobbies", that are in themselves not sinful, that eventually we begin to seek life in those things. We cease to look to God for fulfillment and we look to Golf, or video games, or fashion instead. And like the scripture says the longer we stay in that trance and the more we get out of touch with reality, the harder it is for us to snap out of it.
