love beyond imagination
“He now showed them the full extent of His love” the weight behind this statement of Jesus humbling Himself is massive. The king is now a slave. Kings never do work, everyone works for the king. That is why they are king. Everyone is subject to them. But Jesus isn’t just king, he is also a prophet and priest. This is mind boggling.
Wasn’t Jesus’ love fully expressed in the fact that He lowered himself and took on flesh and died on the cross? He had to do more to show us the magnitude of His love, to fully express it? That doesn’t make any sense!!! God had to serve man? Are you kidding me? Did it really have to go to that extent for us to get it? God have mercy on us in our stupidity, arrogance, pride, selfishness, flesh. Thank you for your unfailing/unchanging love!
