Psalm 119:97-100 ASV

I've always been annoyed at people who knew all kinds of Bible facts and trivia, because it seemed like they were rubbing in the fact that they knew more than everyone else. There is a dangerous side to learning Scripture and gaining knowledge can lead to being prideful and arrogant (look at the Pharisees), but there's also a benefit. Constantly dwelling on God's word can make you wiser than your enemies, teachers and people who are older. Rather than feeling put down or put off by prideful "smart" people, study, learn, know and apply God's word and you'll be smarter and wiser than many people you'll encounter. Just don't act like you know it all or get prideful.
