After a genuine greeting, Paul gets right to the point. He is responding to the churches in Galatia (Antioch, Iconium, Lystra, and Derbe. They have been confused by heretics saying things like circumcision is necessary to be saved. Paul takes a hard line with them when he states that all who pervert the gospel should be condemned.

I have come to think about all of the ways that in today's time we pervert the gospel by believing untruths. We conform our belief system to surround what we want to believe like sexual immorality, abusive attitudes, idolatry, and many others. This is very close to what Paul is warning his beloved in verse 10 when he asks, “Are we trying to win the approval of me, or of God?”
