Yeah, sure, I'm a good Christian
Jesus takes a lot of time here to point out the hypocrisy of looking great on the outside but being messed up on the inside. Wow. If that doesn't hit us right between the eyes as modern Christians, we need to take a more honest look at our lives. How often do we go to church and pretend everything is great, when in fact we are wrestling with serious stuff. Jesus' warning against this is strong and yet we do it every single week. If we can just be honest and let our outside match our inside, we can get help. "First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean." It's so simple, but it requires honesty.
