Reminder to all those who are truthtellers - there is no comfort in it, there is no personal glory in it, there is no "future" in it. Kind of a big ol' sign that you shouldn't do it unless God has called you to it, because you'll need His help to survive.

And for those who are watching situations where you can't understand why God is allowing corruption in His church and how so much ill is done in His name, while no one is standing up to it, trust in His promises that He will (in His time) send people to confront it. We should keep in mind that it may not go the way that we all would hope (see verse 37-38), but we can place our trust in God that He can redeem anything that is broken, especially the church.
