Relevant Calling of the Disciples
Christ does something very simple in these verses. He speaks in relevance using the language of the people. To the fishermen, He says, "I will make you fishers of men."
This should have a profound impact on our understanding of Discipleship. In other words, some one else's Discipleship may look different than our version of it. While the core and absolute truth remains the same, the application and method of delivery varies among the people.
Discipleship might look like a friend with a tattoo serving someone. Discipleship might look like repetative kneeling and bowing in a service. Discipleship might look like moving into a low income apartment complex just to be among the "low lifes." Dischipleship might look like eating caviar on Monday and pb&j on Tuesday.
