This has always been a struggle for me. It probably stemmed from not having a father in my own life, and fighting for attention with my 3 siblings. I have found that integrity and honesty in my dealings is enough, even when the person doesn't hear what they would want to. Then that becomes less the priority, and God is at the rightful place of the one I am serving. The integrity ties it all back together with Christ at the center, and is sufficient in my opinion, as that is how I can be an effective witness, without making "people-pleasing" my paramount objective.
