In the event (Numbers 21:9) that Jesus alluded to, rebels against God had to humbly face a stark representation of their sin to find deliverance from the consequences of their sin. In the same way, sinners must look upon the Lord Jesus - bloodied, beaten, and bruised - Who became sin for us; recognizing the seriousness of sin and its consequences to find deliverance from the torment and death that results from rebellion against God's loving guidance.
