CHAPTER 4- Solomon ruled Israel, but he had appointed men to positions of governorship over different parts of his kingdom. He and his kingdom had much. Solomon was the wisest person on earth. People came from all over the earth to hear him speak. It says that Solomon used his great knowledge to teach.

CHAPTER 5- Hiram king of Tyre sends word to Solomon (he was a friend of David). Solomon tells him that he wishes to build a temple to the Lord. He tells Hiram to have timber cut for him. He says he will pay for the work. This all greatly pleased Hiram. Hiram supplied all the timber Solomon could want, and Solomon repaid him with money, food, and other amenities. When constructing the temple, Solomon made sure to have a firm stone foundation for everything to be built up on.

1. Solomon used others to help him rule.
2. God will rule, but He will appoint others to rule with Him.
3. Solomon did not hoard God's gift to him. Instead, he shared his knowledge with others.
4. Solomon is not ashamed to ask for help from those who are more skilled than him.
5. Solomon laid a strong foundation for his temple.
