Mark 5
Jesus and His disciples get out of their boat, and Jesus is approached by a demon-possessed man. The man lived in the tombs and could not be controlled. Even when the people had tried to tie him up, he had broken the chain and escaped. He would cry out and cut himself with stones. The man fell on his knees before Jesus. He knew that He was Jesus, the Son of God, and he asked Him not to torture him. Jesus called out the demon, and asked it for its name. The demon said its name was Legion, because there were many of them. Jesus cast the demons into pigs that were nearby, and they the pigs ran off and drown themselves in the lake. When Jesus was getting back into the boat, the man begged to go with Him, but Jesus said that he should go home to his family and tell them what the Lord had done.
When Jesus got of the boat on the other side of the lake, a man came to Him and begged Him to come to his house to heal his daughter. On the way, a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years came behind Jesus and touched His cloak so as to be healed. (THIS REFERS TO AN OLD PROPHECY ABOUT THE SAVIOR: IT WAS SAID THAT HEALING WOULD COME ON THE KANIF (hebrew for "corner") OF HIS WINGS/CLOTHING) Immediately she stopped bleeding. Jesus said, "...your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from you suffering."
Men came from the house of the father and told him that his daughter had died. Jesus said not to be afraid, but to have faith. When He arrived at the house, he said to the people there that the child was not dead, but asleep. Jesus went to the girl and told her to get up, and she did.
1. Again, the demons know that Jesus is the Son of God without being told.
2. Jesus sent the man to tell what He had done for him.
3. The woman was healed BECAUSE of her faith.
4. Jesus defeats death
