The Lord appeared to Solomon at Gibeon. He said that if Solomon obeyed His Law, He would establish his throne over Israel forever. But if Solomon or any of his sons disobeyed the Lord or served other gods, He will cut off Israel from the land that He gave them and He will reject the temple. Even though the temple is great now, if they disobey, people will say it is hideous because they forsook the Lord who delivered them out of Egypt. |||

When he was finished building the temple and his palace, Solomon gave 20 towns in Galilee to Hiram king of Tyre because Hiram had supplied all the timber and gold for the buildings. Hiram though, was not pleased with the towns that were given to him. During the building process, Solomon had used forced labor of all non-Israelites in Israel. The Israelites were his soldiers and officials. Solomon also fulfilled all the temple obligations (sacrifices, incense, etc.). |||

1. God promises to take care of Solomon and his descendants so long as they obey His Law
2. God promises to bring down Solomon and his descendants if they do not obey His Law
3. Solomon upheld the temple law
4. Solomon put Israelites above non-Israelites.
