Being Different

Today's scripture reading turns us to the fact that we are different, that there is something that has been changed in those who believe in Christ Jesus and who follow him daily. There has obviously been a shift in today's "evangelical" church to be more in tune with the world so that we can engage culture, be relevant and hopefully win people to Christ by showing we are normal just like them. But Peter clearly lays it out for us by saying "as foreigners and exiles" we are aliens in this world, not because we have come from a different place, but because we no longer fit in. Sometimes we try too hard to fit in and we forget Jesus.

Embrace my alien status, by not seeking to be like culture, but to begin living such a good life that all my life cumulates in the glorification and worship of God.
