Jeremiah 44:1

God tells Jeremiah that He punished the people because they sinned greatly, burning sacrifices to other gods, and ignoring the prophets that God sent after them. He says that is why Jerusalem was emptied and Judah was uprooted. The Lord said that He would destroy the remnant of Judah that chose to go to Egypt. When Jeremiah told the people these things, they did not approve and said they would not follow the Lord. They said they would continue to burn incense to the Queen of Heaven as they did in Jerusalem. But Jeremiah tells them that it is that exact action that has brought the present trouble on them. Jeremiah finally becomes angry with them because of their stubbornness and tells them to go ahead and sin against the Lord, but in return the Lord would be looking to destroy them, and they would all die by sword or famine. The Lord also said that He would hand over Pharaoh to his enemies.

1. The people sinned and were uprooted by God
2. The people refused to acknowledge their sin
3. The people refuse to listen to Jeremiah
4. The Lord says that the people will be destroyed.
