they will hate you - but stand firm
As Jesus sends us out into the world to serve in his name, he knows that even though we go in peace, we carry a dangerous message that will rise up men to violence and ill will. BUT he doesn't suggest that we become (wolves) violent with them, he advices us to act in wisdom (shrewd) and to live beyond reproach (innocent).
Even so, men will not like the conflict our message of faith and truth brings to their hearts and minds, so they will take it out on us.
They will mean us harm socially, occupationally, personally and even at times physically. But when they do and you feel like no matter how you respond it isn't good enough, relax; you have the Holy Spirit and he will give you the right words to say - they are straight from God!
So, don't be foolish about the message you preach through healing, delivering, showing compassion and teaching. It threatens the control and pride of every person who hears it. Some will respond with soft hearts and listening ears, and will repent and find hope and salvation. Many will respond with irritation, accusation and ill intent. The worst will respond with complacency.
