Leading us to faith / John 11:1-16
The Lord led his disciples into situations that didn't seem wise to them. Heading right into the hands of those who would do him harm seemed like less than a wise strategy. Waiting till the man dies doesn't seem like an effective strategy for being of help. It seems that we would realize that we should be slow to say, "The Lord would never want us to, " or "It only makes sense that what the Lord would want is…" When has it ever made sense? And why do we think that the power that it would take to do what makes sense to us could ever accomplish what is really needed. How could death on a cross seem like a power play? But it was. So what will we be willing to listen to God about? Will we tell him what would and wouldn't be from Him. Or will we walk into the most confusing or overwhelming circumstances with confidence that He can do what is needed? I hope I can learn to trust the One who was not defeated by the death of His friend Lazarus.
