Who is my neighbor? The man in distress is someone people overlook, someone invisible. We now look for obvious classes of the poor and downtrodden and we reach out to them - but what about the annoying guy who lives right next to us? How about that obnoxious person at work who treats us so poorly?
Good Samaritan:
1. Noticed the man in need - he saw him
2. He let this man's need interrupt his life.

Love is the accurate estimate and adequate response to another's need.

There were some medical students who were nearing the end of their internships when they were given a test in class. The prof hands out the test telling them he is testing them on what they learned in their internships. The only question on the test that day was: What is the name of the janitor on the floor in the hospital you worked on? The students were upset! What does this have to do with medicine, our studies, or being a doctor! The prof replied, if you don't care enough for people to learn the names of the people you work around, what kind of doctor can you be?
