Psalm 1:5 ASV

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
1. Judgment
a. Immediate
b. Present
c. Urgent – like hot fries
2. Objection
a. God rejects the wicked?
b. God wants to save everyone
c. God is love!
d. Anyway, everyone is wicked – NOT SO!
e. But the bible says….
3. Wicked
a. That’s who a wicked person is
b. Hasn’t accepted God
c. Rejected God
d. Are rejected by God
e. The only way to stay wicked is to continue rejecting God
f. Those who reject God will not be with Him

Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
1. Congregation – the people of God
a. Worship God
b. Love God
c. Serve God
d. Obey God
e. Hear God
f. Know God
2. Objection
a. But nobody does all those things!
b. Nobody is better than anyone else!
c. We can’t work our way to God!
3. Sinners
a. Anyone can choose to not be with Him.
b. Your works don’t save you or condemn you!
c. Your choice to trust God is what saves you!
d. God saves you!
e. If you’re not with God, you aren’t being saved!
f. Your unbelief is your sin!

To the righteous (aka the people who love God)
1. I assume since you are at a worship night, you love God
2. At least there’s some part of you that’s curious
3. This verse speaks to the righteous this way:
a. Your soul must cry out to God on behalf of those who are cut off from you
b. Your compassion must break your resolution to do nothing!
c. Your love must drive you to seek out and save those who are missing from our congregation!
