God Owns it All
What a beautiful scene! Perhaps the crowning moment of David's reign. After a lifetime of spiritual successes and failures, David is down to his last big move. He wants to invest in something that will outlast him so he divests himself of earthly treasures. Truly the concept of the Kingdom of God gets a little clearer in a passage like this. "Everything in heaven, everything on earth; the kingdom all yours!" David surrenders his kingdom. David gives lavishly to God. David won't pat himself on the back. He acknowledges that he's only giving back what God gave him already. If we can learn to live our lives in the reality that God owns everything, it's a game-changer! So many "things" come into perspective. What are we doing with the treasures, resources, and relationships God has trusted to us? What could we stop doing right now that would bring more alignment with truth? What could we start doing right now that would let this truth sing through out lives, God Owns it All? The "ownership myth" comes crashing down when we realize we can't take it with us! Let's drop the fantasy and live in the reality: "the earth is the Lord's and everything in it!" Justice, mercy, and money are powerfully reshaped by this truth. What's is your wallet? God's money. Proceed with wisdom and generosity. Who knows what amazing things may come...
Hey, and how about a leader's example? Wow David kind of rocks here as a visionary, missional, sacrificial leader.
