Wicked
Always end on “application”:
Colossians 1:9-11
1. How does this help me endure the Christian life patiently, and with joy?
2. How does this create Jesus’ character in me?
3. What does this have to do with the hope to which we have been called?
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
1. Knows
2. IS knowing
3. No matter what you think
4. Good
5. Bad
6. Blasé
7. God KNOWS your way
8. God sees it CLEARER than you
9. His knowledge of your life is not theoretical but INTIMATE
He’s not like Santa, who knows everything from the North Pole.
Just because you can’t see him doesn’t mean he can’t see you!
Better be good for goodness’ sake!
God WALKS with you, and shares your life.
God knows the way of the righteous.
But the way of the wicked will perish.
1. Perish
2. Will end
3. Is finite
4. Has an ending
5. Not just the wicked will perish
6. The very path they walk
7. The very lifestyle they live will perish with them
8. Heaven is void of this wicked way
9. It is condemned and dies with its followers
You may say, oh that’s a cheery note to end on!
But consider!
We started with the path of blessedness, which is like a flourishing tree.
We end with the path of wickedness, which is on the path to death.
It is a final warning – a final PLEA.
It is a plea to seek God and seek life.
To the righteous (aka the people who love God)
1. I assume since you are at a worship night, you love God
2. At least there’s some part of you that’s curious
3. This verse speaks to the righteous this way:
You cannot end this life without telling somebody the way of life.
You cannot sit by and watch people walk toward their own death!
You must have mercy!
You must give up cowardice!
You must give up laziness!
You must give up selfishness!
