We continue our seeker season which describes the journey of a spiritual pirate from a “far from God posture” to finding the treasure of a life-time. Tonight’s study is geared for the believer, since we too can loose sight of the importance of following the map. As a group work your way through the following discussion questions based on the following passage:

Read Mark 7:1-23

What was the initial question asked of Jesus disciples by the religious people of his day? (7:5)
How had the Pharisees and other religious leaders of the day lost sight of the Map?
What was the verdict that Jesus gave regarding the spiritual condition of those who were trained as teachers of the Word of God? (7:6-13)
How is it possible for Christ-followers like us to loose sight of the “Spirit of the Word” and loose the impact of the Word in our life?
The Pharisees made a big deal about which foods could be eaten and which were considered ceremonially unclean. Jesus directed them to look at what happens in a man’s heart. What examples did he give of the evil that lurks inside all of us? (7:21-22)
How can the Word make a difference in those things that really matter?

Mark 7:1-15 and Mark 7:17-23
