GOD is different than us.

i have a whole bunch of valuable artifacts; items of sentimental value, documents and contracts that i need to hold on to for some reason. we tuck away grandma's china, or precious collectibles, and we put them in fireproof, waterproof, whatever proof containers. the things we hold so valuable, we do what we can to protect. the containers are strong and sturdy.

GOD is different than us.

GOD has something valuable that he gives to each and everyone of us. but he doesn't store it in strong vessels-concrete reinforced vessels, or giant vaults hidden away. GOD places his valuables in fragile vessels. paul mentions that it is us, jars of clay, that GOD puts his treasure - the light of the world, Jesus Christ and the living message of salvation. we are easily broken.

GOD is different than us.

what if the treasure is stronger or more powerful than it's container? what if it's not the container that makes it's contents indestructible, but the contents that make the container strong? this makes no sense when we think of what we hold valuable. but GOD is different than us. it is the power of GOD in us, that makes us strong, that makes us valuable, that makes us indesctructible.

even though we are fragile, broken jars of clay...GOD is in us and makes us strong. for when we are weak, GOD makes us strong.
