God's Dream for Your Life (Ingram)
Theresa, Chip Ingram's wife, was pregnant at a banquet and her water broke. He and she rushed to the hospital to find there was a problem because the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck. At many contractions, the monitor to the baby's heart kept slowing to dangerous levels. But finally, the baby was born safely after 27 hours. After holding the baby for awhile and after thanking God for the baby, Chip wept on the floor, overwhelmed. His dreams for his child and times with him were going to happen. At www.fbconline.org, Chip then talks about how his dreams for his children changed over time. As they got older, he just wanted them to be Godly and children of integrity. When they are young, they can step on your toes, but when they are older they can step on your heart. Just like our experiences like these with our children, we have the power to bring incredible delight to God, "the prayer of the righteous is His delight" or to bring grief to Him, "Do not grieve the Holy Spirit by which you were sealed for the day of redemption". God has a dream for our lives. Nine out of ten people completely miss God's dream for their lives. God actually wants us to be a mirror of Jesus here. Ultimately, God wants us to watch what Jesus would watch, drive as Jesus would drive, love as he would love etc. A Romans 12 Christian essentially. Chip wanted for his son to be very close to him and open with him about his struggles in life. Love is expressed as we trust God. The relationships we experience here on earth are: 1) Surrender to God. "present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God" 2) Our relationship to the world. "Renew our minds. 3) Relationship to ourselves with a "sober assessment " 4) Our relationship to fellow believers as a Body. 5) Our relationship to nonbelievers. Are we willing to be a Romans 12 Christian?
