Do you see my hand?
I remember being on the "Mock Trial" team in high school. Our team went to state and I was the lead defense attorney. My favorite part of our case was making the opening statement. I stood before a "jury" full of lawyers and judges and asked a very simple question;
"Ladies and Gentleman of the jury, let me ask you this question. 'Do you see my hand'?"
I would hold it up and a bewildered group would just stare at me like, 'yeah, you idiot, of course we see your hand."
But the zinger came when I would then ask again but this time add,
"Do you see my hand, or do you only see, HALF of my hand."
I would then flip my hand over and make the case that "just as the plaintiffs in the case showed you one side of the story, the defense would be showing you the other.
I am preaching this Sunday on the Woe of "Integrity", vs, 27-28. Isn't that the definition of integrity, by the way? Living a life that shows BOTH SIDES of the hand?
AND mirroring Jesus in the process?
