I already talked about how this passage stood out for me - correcting the Sunday School stories I remembered as a child...
It also stood out to me in two very distinct ways, however; and I felt a need to mention it...

I cannot tell you the number of times that I've heard the discussion of Free Will come back to being blamed on Adam & Eve eating of this fruit...
Maybe its because I just have had this preset notion all of my life that eating of the fruit is what gave us the ability of free will, or maybe its what all of the people I've heard have also believed, but WOW - God really opened my eyes when I read this passage...

We had to use our Free Will in order to partake of the fruit in the first place... Duh! How I never saw this before truly blows my mind.... Don't get me wrong - I have felt - for a very long time - that eating the fruit isn't what gave us Free Will. I've felt that Free Will was a gift from God, not a curse - but I had no specific Bible passage to point to...
But here it is, its been staring me in the face my entire life and I never put 2 and 2 together to get the answer...
It made me start to wonder how many of the people I've spoken to are in the same boat, or worse yet, actually believe that the fruit DID give us Free Will...

Free Will is a Blessing, even though it is so often used to choose the wrong path. I cannot tell you how excited I was to see it so clearly this time around - Now I have the chance to share this passage in an entirely new light with the people in my life! Thank you God!
