Am I Friend Worth Having?
Jesus is ultimately the only One worth listening to.
My response:
Follow Jesus example and listen to
His instructions for my life.
Jesus is the only One worth turning to for hope and healing.
My response:
Trust Jesus, turn to Him in
repentance, seek His forgiveness
and ask for His help
Jesus is the only One who forgives, forgets, and removes our sin.
My response:
Honor Jesus with my lifestyle and
obey Him in every area of my life.
We should be the kind of people that we find in this passage. They did not know all the needs of their friend, they did not even realize his ultimate need (the way Jesus did) but they did realize he needed Jesus. They saw the reality of the situation and knew Jesus was the only hope their friend had for hope, for healing, for cleansing (after all in their culture, he could have been considered unclean, paralyzed due to judgment for sin in his life.)
Am I the kind of person that people would consider "a friend worth having." Would my friends turn to me in a crisis knowing I would go to any lengths possible to help them in their situation. I think Jesus calls me to be this kind of friend to people--so that at their greatest point of need I can point them to their Only source of help.
I should be the kind of friend that is a stretcher bearer.
I should be the kind of friend that is a roof-ripper-off-er.
I should be the kind of friend that makes the most of every opportunity to usher my friends into the presence of a healing relationship with Jesus.
AM I? That is the big question.
