The real issue
The pharisees wanted to know why Jesus' followers didn't follow their traditions. Jesus straight up tells them off. Jesus wanted people to see that it was more important to have a true heart that loved God than to pretend to be good by following a bunch of rules. In fact Jesus showed them an areas where they were actually obeying a rule but ignoring God.
Back in Jesus' day you could dedicate money to God. Once you did that you couldn't use it for anything else. So some people would "dedicate" money to God and then tell their family they couldn't help them because the money was dedicated to God. So they let people starve rather than help. Jesus says that is just stupid.
