Here Jesus tells a story. In the story, the owner is God. The servants are all the prophets God sent to warn the people in the past. The renters are the people who reject God. The son is Jesus. Then Jesus quotes the old testament to show that he would be rejected by the chief priests.

THe teachers of the law and the chief priests were of course furious that Jesus was calling them out like this.
