I first learned this verse while part of Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Washington. We learned it as part of our evangelistic training. It paints a great picture of what God's relationship to an unsaved person looks like. However, in context, this is being spoken to a church, a body of people that is supposedly already saved. Jesus is on the outside of this church. That should startle us. That should make us evaluate our own walk with the Lord and our own churches. Is Jesus on the outside looking in? Are we doing all kinds of stuff, asking Jesus to bless it, when He isn't into any of it? This tells me that there are churches that need to be evangelized. There are churches that need the Lord. There are churches that are dead, no one has told them yet. They are the frozen chosen. Is this you? Is this me? We need to do a Revelation 2:5. Remember, repent, repeat.

Revelation 3:20
