Taking a hard look at our motives is often difficult to do. Individuals to corporations often give for personal gain. We give to receive the tax write off at the end of the year. Businesses give to charity to help with their public relations. We give to the poor in order to satisfy our own guilt and feed our need to be appreciated. Jesus is challenging us to evaluate our true motives for “acts of righteousness”.
