The verses of Matthew 6:5-15 contains the essence of our personal prayer with the Lord. It is about praying in private, silence, stillness and isolation. The “Our Father” expresses how the Lord communicates with us through this type of one-to-one contemplative prayer. It starts with an awareness that a part of heaven resides in all mankind. It is when we honor his name in contemplative prayer that the Lord will expose us to the kingdom of heaven within our soul and inner being. It is through our actions in daily life that the Lord desires to have his will be done as Disciples of Christ. Each day in contemplative prayer Lord will feed us our daily bread with guidance, strength, courage, and wisdom. He will fill us with faith, hope, and charity. He will forgive our sins, but we must first forgive those who have sinned against us. He will guide us away from the temptations of evil.

With the Lord's guidance, “thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. That is our role as Disciples of Christ.
