Cain was not angry because he failed to please God but he was angry because God seemingly failed to please him. We see Cain's desire for glory, desire for praise which resulted in anger, malice, manipulation and murder when it wasn't satisfied. God-esteem should have been his goal... not self-esteem, not in this context! The glory of God should have been his aim and not the pride of life (the desire to be made much of). Let us pursue honor for God in order that we may make much of HIM. "your name and renown are the desire of my soul." Isaiah 26:8
