It never occurred to me until now how Matthew 5:10-13 fits together with 14-16. Jesus just finished warning us that persecution likely awaits those that truly follow him. Yet, despite this risk, he tells us to proclaim our allegiance to him in such a way that is attention-grabbing and conspicuous. Jesus has essentially invited us into a life is risk and adventure. Enjoy the ride as you give glory to him!
