Jesus bids the men to follow and then he presents them with hIs stern determination to make them fishers of men. Jesus declares, "I WILL MAKE YOU fishers of men." (My emphasis). Consequentially, if we're following, we'll soon to be fishing and if we're not fishing then our following is suspect?! Why did Jesus choose fishermen? I suppose that he chose them because fishermen are optimistic. They'll sit out all day a catch nothing. The next day they'll catch one fish and act as though the day before never happened. Let us follow Jesus as they did... IMMEDIATELY!
