At first I wondered how to always keep good deeds anonymous, but I'm not sure the scripture here says that men can't see your 'acts of righteousness' but rather that you shouldn't do it for them to see. Whether people see your good works or not should be the furthest thing from your mind when you are doing something. If God wants it to be seen, He will make it so.

Verse 2 clarifies a little bit, by saying that you shouldn't announce your giving. Common sense says there is a good chance people will notice, but you are not to brag about it.

This is probably most apparent with people who claim how humble they are. It is all too easy to feel like you are obeying this passage, but in your heart you are violating it.
