Matthew 7:8-11 ASV

How should a child of the King, one who calls God Father, live life? How should I respond to life's situations and to the people that cross my path? Jesus' sermon on the Mount answers these questions. There is a higher standard. One that I believe is for my own benefit. God is a loving Father and wants what is best for me. He's not asking me to do these hard things because He's just wanting to make life difficult for me. I think Jesus is addressing those who are willing to follow Him and do His commands. So if I truly call myself a Christ-follower, I will be willing to do as He says. "Keep on asking" implies that you won't necessarily ask once and get what you asked for. God doesn't necessarily say no to what we ask, but He may be saying, "not yet" or not in that way you think is the best way. He wants us to keep asking Him. Keep looking. Keep knocking. Jesus goes on to draw a parallel between earthly parents and the Heavenly Father. He promises us that the Father will give good gifts to those who ask. I think that is pretty awesome!
