Why I am studying Romans
This year am committed to reading through the bible. I am starting with Romans, as I have felt the need to get rooted in solid theology. I am a Bible college student that hasn't grown up in a particular denomination so really sorting out what I believe has been a journey. As I get closer to graduation and closer to full time ministry I am getting nervous. I thought I would have worked out my questions and doubts; I haven't. Instead, I feel even more confused. The more knowledge I get in the class room has brought on a deeper set of questions. Thus to make sense of the jumble mess in my head I am going to read through Romans, what is arguably one of the great books on God's theology. I use the phrase God's theology as I believe that there is only one theology, that being what God laid forth from the beginning of time. Man's theology is a humble attempt at rediscovering God's thoughts. That being said, I invite you to join me in this humble attempt, always keeping at the forefront of our journey our limitations as the created. I don't have much to offer in the sense of insight, but knowing that God likes to work through lowly people like Paul, who says he is the chief of sinners, and me who is close to the top as well, I offer my thoughts. Do not take them as God's word but follow up behind me, seeing if I have come even close to God's wisdom. If by God's grace I have, and you benefited from me rambling on in the way I sometimes do, feel free to let me know. I am not inviting it as I know I struggle with pride, but I do want to know that I have been an encouragement to some. I want to praise God along with you. So are we ready?
