Pray With A Genuine Heart!
David’s life was in danger as Saul and his men were drawing near. David cried out to God in anguish for he knew that God would hear his prayer. Whenever anyone feels a threat to their very existence they run to God and cry out to him to spare their life. Why? Because, God is our creator and since he created us, he alone determines when we die. The power of life and death is in God’s hands. So, it is only natural that we would run to God and ask him to spare our life.
Whenever David prayed to God, he prayed with a genuine heart and not out of feigned lips. David did not come to God to deceive him or to falsely accuse Saul. David spoke directly from his heart with all sincerity and was truly genuine about what he was bringing to the Lord in prayer. We too need to take a lesson from David. When we come to the Lord in prayer, we need to be genuine and honest before him. God knows our hearts and our intentions and he has seen all that we have done. We cannot convince him that we really didn’t mean to do something, when he knows that we meant it with all intention. Before you pray to God, be sure that you are bringing him your heart and not your excuses!!
