At Least You Tried
A couple years ago, a friend and I would go out to coffee at least once a week and talk about our youth group. She used to get so frustrated with the girls and how they were acting. She would say, "but they seem to get it and understand it and then they go out and do all these stupid things going totally against it." As believers, it can be extremely frustrating to watch someone you love go out and mess things up over and over again. Maybe they get it at first, but for some reason just don't live it. Or maybe that just flat out reject it from the start. As someone who has had their fair share of mess-ups, I've learned that people are going to do things that we just don't understand sometimes. They will turn from God and we can do our best to help them. However, Jesus says don't make a scene. Don't force it, just walk away quietly. We can make our impact, say our piece, but in the end it's going to be God that saves people. We are called to share what we believe, people can accept it or not. We may not always see the results of our work with others but the important part is to remember we tried and it is no longer our concern. In time, God will work in their hearts just as he worked in all of ours.
