Who was Ezra? The Scriptures are clear who this man Ezra was. Ezra was a scribe well versed in God's law. The Scriptures tell us that his ambition in life was to study the law, be obedient to it, and teach its statutes to Israel. As a result the hand of the Lord was with Ezra. What is your ambition? I would like to propose to you that there is no greater ambition in life than to know God's word, be obedient to it, and then to build into others that they might also be obedient to God's word. Why is there no greater ambition. Jesus said, "If you love me you will obey what I command." (John 14:15). You see our calling as Christians is to obey Jesus Christ in every arena of life. So if those who love Jesus, obey the commands of Jesus, then the greatest ambition of our lives must be to know the word, obey the word, and help others follow in suit, for Jesus is the great joy of those who know Him.
