Enemies
Psalm 18:37, Psalm 18:38-39, Psalm 18:40 and Psalm 18:42-45
I always have such a hard time when I read through the Psalms and Proverbs and the authors talk about doing, wishing, praying harm upon their enemies. After Jesus came we were taught to love our enemies. I have to mentally picture my enemies as those evil spirits that try to permeate my life, not the faces of those humans that offend and hurt me. I believe that the wisdom in the Psalms and Proverbs are God-inspired for us even to this day, but to be in constant prayer about what the literal meanings are for me personally. I will choose to love those people that do sinful things towards me, and wish for those true enemies in the spirit world to be struck down. Now that's not to say these certain scriptures haven't given me those thoughts about certain people before. Many a day I would love to grind them in the dust. Then I have to pray for forgiveness!
