Beneficiaries of God's Common Grace
One of the great mysteries of this life is the nature of death and why people experience in the different ways they do. I mean have you ever stopped and wondered why some live longer than others. Or why some die in horrific ways. The world has no answer to these questions and most of the time the answer is to turn and blame the God they do not believe in. Is God unjust? Certainly not! The Scriptures have an answer for this question. It is clear from verse 21 that God will never wipe out everybody the way he did in the flood again, but God never says people wont die in many different ways. The fact is every breath we take is only by God's grace. God is holy, meaning he is completely set apart, not like us in any way, and untouched by the stain of sin. His ways are not ours. On the flip side, we are absolutely to the core sinful, for we see that the intent of man's heart is evil from his youth. This means that every thought, feeling, or action is motivated by self and what self thinks is best for self. We hate God because we love ourselves. So even though God should get rid of us like he did in the flood, by his immeasurable, unfathomable, grace and mercy God allows you and me to breath, and thereby live each moment, day, month, year. Such mercy and grace has afforded many of us the opportunity to know Jesus Christ. And I pray that many would see God's goodness, repent, and believe in Jesus Christ, whom we see the fullest display of God's mercy and grace. Oh may we never escape such a truth and may a sweet aroma of praise rise to our God for there is no one like our God.
