Matthew 11:16-19 ASV

This passage talks about the criticisms that came from the Jewish people because Jesus did not meet their expectations for the Messiah. Even with the fullness of the Old Testament, the Jewish people had been misled by their leaders into a well-defined religious system that could not recognize the true God. God, it seems, was not what they had expected, so much so that they could not recognize him.

It's amazing to me that the most religious people at the time of Christ could not recognize him, and that he placed the blame for their ignorance completely on them. It also makes me look hard at my own religious practices. I don't want to miss God because I do not understand Him. I want to know Him, and Him alone.
