Disturbing Calling
I am growing more and more convinced that the reason we are not seeing the fruit in ministry that the early disciples saw, when it comes to making devout disciples and walking in the power of God, is because we are just too comfortable. I read the entire chapter of Matthew 10 and it is filled with disturbing promises for God's ambassadors on the earth. Jesus said that whatever we hear in the dark tell it in the light. And in this context, he proclaims that he has not come to bring peace to the earth, but a sword. "I have come to set a man against his father." This sure sounds to me like Jesus is saying that his followers will not be political and endearing and surreptitious. They are going to speak the truth no matter the context.
