Prayer
I think Jesus teaches 4 very important principles for prayer just by the way he lived his life
1) After he had sent the crowds away- We need a time where we withdraw from the rush of life, that is ministry.
2) He went up on the mountain- Our place of prayer should be one, as much as possible, away from distractions.
3) By Himself to pray; He was there alone- We need a time of prayer that we go to by ourselves. Prayer is about communing with the God. It is about intimacy and there are times when you don't want to share God and God does not want to share you. There are times that not getting alone hinders our vulnerability and without such vulnerability we will not know the Lord as fully as we could.
4) When it was evening- Who knows how long Jesus had been on the mountain, but he probably had been there a while. Prayer and the intimacy that accompanies it is not a two minute hot pocket. The fullness of the joy and pleasure of prayer is only experienced when we dwell.
So Get Away, Get Someplace, Get Alone, and Dwell There
