Genesis 27:18-25 ASV

I can't imagine the war in Jacob's soul in this moment. He's doing an unbelievably sinful and deceitful thing, lying to his father to steal his older brother's birthright. He knew the brevity of what he was doing, and while he was encouraged by his mother to do so, it's his responsibility for carrying it out. He was given multiple opportunities to come clean and admit what he was doing, but he lies more at each turn, digging deeper and deceiving more. He must have been doubling over in physical pain because of his sin by the end of this episode. Yet, here is the man who will be blessed, who will be redeemed, and will become the father of God's people.
