Jealousy Is An Ugly Thing
What we see in this verse and in the rest of Genesis 37 is just how ugly jealousy can become in our lives. His brothers were experiencing far more than just sibling rivalry. They were experiencing the darkness that is in all of our souls. Later we will see that God brought good even out of their jealousy and the actions that were directed by it. While I am glad that God can redeem every situation, my prayer is that he would redeem us so that jealousy isn't a part of our lives anymore. We aren't people who are jealous of others stuff or success. We aren't people who are jealous of God's working in others lives or in others churches.
